The MSU basketball team travelled to Penn State today, and beat the Nittany Lions 81-72 behind Adreian Payne’s 20 points and 7 rebounds.
All of Payne’s damage was done in the second half of the game, because he was riding the bench for the entire first half.
Penn State police were called to the Nittany Lion Inn following an “altercation” between Adreian Payne and off-campus roommate Branden Dawson.
The story was reported by the Centre County Report Twitter.
According to police, a verbal argument became physical and one player was shoved into a wall. However, no charges were filed.
Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said both players are “sincerely remorseful” and “will pay for any property damage.”
Izzo also went on to say “If it wasn’t for the Twitter Era, it would just be another day.”
Payne appeared to respond to the situation positively, setting a career high in points.
Hopefully the Spartans can move on and use this as a teaching moment, and use it to bring the team together.
